Faribault Woolen Mill Co, since 1865. Established along the Cannon River in Minnesota, USA.
The Dyeing Room.
For stripes, plaids and other patterns, raw wool is stock dyed before carding and spinning the wool into yarn. The undyed fiber also called "greys and browns", is washed before dyeing, in a large dye kettle which works like a pressure cooker. Each dye kettle can contain 500 pounds of wool.
