Faribault Woolen Mill Co, since 1865. Established along the Cannon River in Minnesota, USA.
For stripes, plaids and other patterns, raw wool (undyed fiber) is washed and stock-dyed before carding and spinning the wool into yarn. Raw wool is precisely weighed and placed in a massive dye kettle which works like a large pressure cooker, containing 500 pounds of wool. When the batch is lifted from the dye kettle, it's dripping with water and weighing 1,500 pounds
