From CVA's booklet (Wausau, WI) :
Emma Pettibone was a masterful bead worker who sold belts, watch fobs, and chains to H. H. Bennett in Wisconsin Dells in 1904. Emma lived in Strongs Prairie, about 30 miles north of the Dells.Emma’s weaving was the first piece that Mary wove, and from her came the inspiration to create this exhibit. Emma was well known for her beadwork and handcrafts.
Mary designed the weaving to depict Emma’s beauty and strength as well as highlight her beautiful silk appliqué work
