From CVA's booklet (Wausau, WI) :
Wanda McFadden, Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the St. Croix Band, said this about Harriet LeSarge: “Harriet had a special light that surrounded her and a sparkle in her eyes you couldn’t miss. Her gentle way towards all of us and just people in general is something I always remember her by – such a soft spoken lady with a heart of gold.”
Mary wanted to convey this in the weaving. Harriet was a member of the Marten Clan, and so a marten was included in the portrait
